I
discovered Archiane Circus, in Ulysses country, 15 years
ago whilst wanting to practice a standard rock-climbing
route on a beautiful rock face - the "jardin du
roy" (The King's garden)
On
this particular day, we didn't climb, but managed only
to reach the base of the rock face at the expense of
an unforgettable
.amongst
the box trees and the FAYARDS?.
We
came back down, scratched and exhausted, as night fell
and celebrated our defeat on the village square with
a bottle of 'Clairette'
At
the time I was living in the high altitude Savoie region
where the winters seemed very long. The Diois region
appeared to be an ideal place to practice, having the
scent of the South, it drew me to it for weekends.
What
wonderful adventures I shared with friends of the village,
on rock faces and plateau during hikes, as well as climbs,
bivouacs and memorable barbecues!
Then,
as I got to know the Diois and Vercors region better,
I was taken further away around the world with my work
as a trekking leader. As far away as I might have been,
I always had a special thought for an unchanging Archiane
and for Ulysses who had never travelled
..
It
had to happen: I now live in the Diois region where
my partner Edwidge and I run a gite in Archiane that
we love to share.
This
program is the fruit of my passion for this region and
is a result of the collaboration with other leaders
and guides who are just as passionate as me, each in
their own way and who have become my friends.
I
still like to travel afar. I therefore suggest joining
me for treks further afield, which are organised by
the entrusted 'allibert' company.
I hope therefore to see you or meet you on the trails
of the Vercors or even further afield
.
